I’m turning off the redirection from the old domain (jaredbangs.org), so you’re probably only reading this if you’ve updated your links to freepressblog.org

just hit me for the first time this afternoon. wow, not even a “the new url is…” page. linkrot-o-rama!
Sorry about that, I thought about adding a notification page, but I didn’t want to bother with it.
Actually, I did, now that I think about it. Admittedly it was a while ago, and a refresher warning was probably in order, but oh well.
i know you posted that, but i ignored it until it actually physically effected me and i had to take action. then i couldn’t remember what the new url was (freepress.com/blog? .net?), so i hit up everyone else that’s linked to you…none of them were updated either (makes since since dan runs them all). so i started guessing and eventually guessed right. why not just either maintain the redirect or put up a permanant page up that says, “this site has moved to …” are you suddenly compelled to keep your blog anonymous?
No, the primary reason was to get everyone to change their links before I start getting a lot more links (as I am now) because of the plugins, and I anticipate even more once I publish my theme out there. I think it would be advantageous (in terms of search engine optimization) to have all external links going to the same site.
I knew that if I kept redirecting automatically, no one would ever change their links (turns out I was right).
I had actually planned to put up a non-redirecting page that gave the new URL, but I never got around to it. Maybe I will now, since I’m getting complaints about it…
UPDATE: OK, now the notification page is up.
yey!
