Bono’s sermon

Here’s the link to the video for Bono’s message regarding social justice in the global context at the recent prayer breakfast in DC. It’s pretty great. A lot of people bag on him for being so “political” (or whatever you may want to call it), etc. but this is a clear example of what more people of his stature (culturally) should be doing: applying the pressure towards positive action that their position allows them the opportunity to do.

PS – this is the direct link to the Windows Media format file from CNN’s site, without all the surrounding pages and ads, etc. In case this gets removed or you don’t have a player that will play it, you may want to check the CNN site (or elsewhere) directly.

  1. Right on! I agree with every single thing that Bono said. Am I the only one who reads this blog that watched the video in its entirety?

  2. No.

  3. Very well spoken and with such grace.

  7. Well, for humors sake, Nick’s. But in reality it was about Bono’s.

  8. Is there a downloadable version of this somewhere? The problem with streaming audio is that when someone (me) wants to burn a copy and show all their friends, they can’t. All I (I mean they) can do is have everyone stream it. So what? you say. Well, would you believe we have a monthly limit on bandwidth here, so if all my coworkers want to see it, either we all watch 21 mins. of video on our own, or we crowd around one computer to watch it. Not complaining as much as I am looking for a loophole. Any ideas/suggestions?

  9. Is there a downloadable version of this clip? I want to show it to a bunch of people at once and would prefer that we don’t all have to crowd around my laptop to see it streaming.

(yes, I am looking for a loophole to streaming video)

  10. Sorry for the moderated comments, not sure why that happened yet…

I have heard of some products which will attempt to capture Windows Media streams as they play, so that you can play them back later, but I have never tried any myself.

Unfortunately, that’s probably the only way you can get a decent copy of it. There is other software that will record video and audio of everything on your screen, but I suspect those would have issues with the quality.

  11. Yes. Whether you like Bono or not, you have to agree that he has a point. He’s making use of his celebrity.
