Dan’s post about digg comments reminded me about the article I read yesterday on Mark Pilgrim’s blog entitled HOWTO play Digg users like drunk kittens.
It chronicles a humorous exercise that kind of confirms the vibe I get from digg in general.
It all started yesterday morning when Mark posted the bait: an article entitled “Digg users are dumber than goldfish“, on his blog. Within moments a faithful digger had dug the story, and it rocketed to the front page of Digg in under 90 minutes.
Don’t forget to read the story of the article that got dug as well, since it actually does make a decent point as well as being the subject of this little game / experiment.

World Charity Poker huh?
I don’t know about the drunk kittens part because the main point is that diggers continuously resubmit stuff and re-digg stuff, I hate that and many others do to so that’s why that article would have been dugg.
as for the reason why articles get re-dugg to the front page is their are continually more and more people that register so while 90% of diggers saw it 40+ days ago another few thousand people registered whom haven’t seen it. Either way, new diggers or dumb ones, it gets annoying but who cares all that much when they are good articles. I hate the ones about ajax chat on digg.com, something I’ve seen 5+ times already
What’s with the World Charity Poker thing? Are you talking about the proxy I was using yesterday?
Was that what that was? I thought you were trying to hide links to the site to increase some kind of PRing.
I’m still not exactly sure what you’re talking about. Where did you see the reference to WCP?

Speaking of Digg…
Yes, I’ve proxying from my server the last couple days since I was working on my home ssh/vpn box. It just happened to use that IP (out of the six on the box).
