This was the title on a big banner accompanying a group on the Govt. Center corner of Victoria and Telephone (the usual Friday afternoon anti-war protest spot) this afternoon. The bottom of the banner said “support our troops”.
I’m not quite sure what a “pro-presidential” rally really means, but maybe I’ll start my own; I’m for a president who will support our troops as well. Specifically, I’d like one who supports them by:
- Not making drastic cuts to their pay & benefits
- Not slashing veterans benefits and services
- Not forcing enlisted troops and reserves to stay in service for longer than they signed up for
- Not sending them in the first place to fight in an unjustified war
The only thing I didn’t understand was this group who said they were supporting the troops was also carrying Bush/Cheney campaign signs…

i saw them too. it’s once again reminded me of my dream to have an “anti-voting rally” in that spot. we’ll wave banners and signs that say, “one vote never made a difference!” and “haven’t you got better things to do with your time?” who’s with me?
That’s hilarious. I’d totally do it.
