Trigger-happy surfers pop a cap in Bambi’s ass

Texas wildlife officials are up in arms over a plan to offer live hunting of real animals via the internet, Reuters reports. John Underwood’s live-shot.com already gives virtual sharpshooters the chance to pop .22 rounds at paper targets, but he reckons that having a crack at the real thing could prove a real blast for trigger-happy surfers.

Underwood has already forked out $10k to construct a platform-mounted gun and camera on his southwest Texas ranch. The gun can be remotely aimed and fired and the results posted to the shooter as a DVD recording or in the form of the original target. Fair enough. This being Texas, however, it’s natural that the entrepreneur’s ambitions for the system extend to the possibility of live quarry. Underwood explains how the moment of inspiration came to him while perusing a website featuring snaps of animals in the wild: “We were looking at a beautiful white-tail buck and my friend said ‘If you just had a gun for that.’ A little light bulb went off in my head,” he said.

My prediction: next we’ll have web-cam guns mounted in all sorts of public places for the sake of taking out “terrorists” or those crazy kids that decide to go on a school shooting spree, all without risking the lives of actual police officers to intervene. Hey, what could go wrong? And after all, it would all be in the name of “protecting” us.

I wonder what would happen if the guy who made the device went out to fix something 100 feet out and at the same time a user logged in and shot him.
That would be an interesting court case.
The shooter could say, “I couldnt tell, the resolution wasnt very good and I thought he has a bear”

    Pretty crazy !
    Remote Control shooting !!!!!!!??????
Do we really need anymore creative ways to kill animals ??

Alternative that I believe would have wide appeal :
Maybe we just start a web site that takes pictures of animals in the forest . There are many cams around . There are so many missed views of animals in the wild . Then you dont have to go out there and disturb them . Can you take stills and download them to your computer ? Is it expensive ? Lets do this in 2005 ! I am going to seriously look into this and even if its being done already .

Why not naked hand to hand hunting ? - its only fair ! The deer dont have clothes, rifles with scopes and internet cameras .
    The animals would win !
I heard of something like this from a dr missionary friend in africa . This leopard attacked this herders goat so the herdsman attacked the leopard . he got pretty cut up , got the goat back and the leopard ran off beat up but alive . The herdsman was a Masai tribesman.

I’m pretty sure that Deer are animals, who were created with fur, “clothing” if you will. So, no naked animals. Also, I have a hard time believing that the strength of a leopard could be bested by a human. Sounds like the email that comes right after the one from lady in Africa trying to get her husbands money out of the bank to give to the church. Hmmm…Just some thoughts.
