American Idol

This is one show that gets progressively worse as it goes. The tryout episodes are entertaining; the in-between ones (on right now) are halfway bearable; and once it gets down to the final 10 (or 12, or whatever the number is) it’s just plain annoying.

N, it’s probably on opposite Gillmore Girls, so you may not have seen it.

When did you get your Tivo. I told everyone about Tivo more then 2 years ago and now everyone is jumping into it. To bad they are going under, and fast. If you have adelphia I recomend there’s, the user interface sucks but it records 2 shows at once. And if you have HD you have to have it. I think I might post about Tivo and adelphia’s moxi soon.

I would get a non-subscription based DVR; don’t you have to pay a monthly fee for tivo (and probably moxi)?

moxi, no, but you do have to pay for the box through adelphia but it’s only 5 bucks more then a regular box.
non-subscription DVR’s suck. Name one that is worth the money, and I will tell you why Tivo is so much better then it in a second.

Disclaimer: Most of what I know about tivo I only heard when it was first coming out, so things might be different now. In other words, I don’t really know what I’m talking about.

Why do they suck? Just because they don’t have an integrated schedule/guide? As long as you know when the shows you want to record are on, you just program it like a VCR, and you don’t have to keep paying every month to get the TVGuide-like stuff downloaded. That is a huge rip-off and should at least be optional.

Plus, I think some of the DVRs make it a lot easier to export to your computer, so you can either archive them or burn them; I don’t know whether tivo or moxi does this, so maybe you can clarify.

I would be interested to hear why you think they’re better though, since I don’t have much experience with them myself.
