Yet another Wordpress plugin

which I’ll announce and then never get around to finishing. I want to build one that uses the XML-RPC functionality of Wordpress to mirror a wordpress blog to a separate backup blog, so that in the event of a server failure, users can be immediately redirected to another server with minimal downtime.

Why Plesk sucks

or “Lesson’s learned from Dan’s weekend” :)
I’ll start this out by saying that I am in the market for a VPS hosting plan, such as the one that inspired this post (although I probably won’t go with 1and1, they seem a little pricey), since my one-year payment with my current host will be coming up for renewal in a little while.

New batch of photos

Couple new (and some old) pictures I pulled off my phone today:

As always, you can see all my pictures by using the “Photo Gallery” link at the top of the side menu.

Pent up postings

After posting that last Star Wars thing, it occurred to me that there’s a whole bunch of stuff I wanted to blog about lately but never got around to. Some I will get to in the coming days, others are probably lost forever. Oh, well. I probably won’t catch up tonight either - I need to go win some more fake money at online poker.

(Belated) Star Wars update

I got caught up with everything else going on, and realized that I forgot to post this a couple weeks ago.

As discussed in this earlier post, there was a desire on the part of several people I am seeing Star Wars with to go to the Century 16 theater instead of Edwards (movie snobs?). Anyway, we successfully pulled the switch - I went to Edwards to refund the tickets purchased on Fandango.

It was a bit tricky, because I didn’t want to buy the Century tickets before I got the Edwards refund, in case they wouldn’t do it, but I also didn’t want to do the Edwards refund without being positive that we could still get Century tickets. So, I ended up logging onto Fandango in my car in the parking lot and confirming that the Century seats were still available, then immediately going to the booth, getting the refund, and going back to the car and ordering, so that I was only left without a ticket for about a minute. I know, it’s overboard, but what can I say.

Now I just have to figure out what I’m going to do if Martha and Christian aren’t home by Wednesday…

Ice chips!

After progressing well the last couple days, they turned the tube going in through his nose off for a four hour test to make sure he still didn’t feel sick, after which point they were able to take out the tube, which was very uncomfortable. For the first time in a full week (since last Monday) he was able to eat ice chips and eventually juice / jello later today. He also is able to talk more; he didn’t really want to talk much before with the tube going down his throat.

Another update on Christian

They had to put (yet another) tube down his throat last night to clear out the digestive tract. The upside is he is feeling better now, so hopefully the rest of his body will be able to recover normally and he can be well soon.

Not over yet

Christian is still having a tough time with recovery; hasn’t been able to eat yet, etc. They are looking at all kinds of things to figure out why, but it has been a long, hard week for us. Primarily Christian of course, but also Martha since she has been staying down there with him since Monday and lastly the rest of us as we wait. We went down to visit yesterday, when they had to put a tube in to drain the fluid that had accumulated in his abdomen. Emma and Riley got to come, but Christian wasn’t in much of a mood to converse, and Riley has also been sick for the last couple days.

Luckily we have the support of family/friends (especially Kristi) to help us get through it. Emma is sleeping over at Ashtin’s tonight too, which is good since she was breaking down last night (or the night before I think) because I couldn’t read her a story at bed time since I was cleaning up Riley’s barf. She was mad because Riley couldn’t play with her and Christian wasn’t there, and then I’m sure missing her Mom was a part of it too.

Anyway, I better stop before this seems too much like complaining, because it’s not. Just looking for the light at the end of the tunnel…
