Analysis of last Tuesday’s speech by the president on Iraq: (full text here)
- Five more deliberately misleading references (within 30 minutes) to 9/11, despite the fact that even the administration themselves admits that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.
- Two mentions of bin Laden by name, (which the administration has done very little of in the last few years), even though he has nothing to do with Iraq. Hmm, is this the same bin Laden he was referring to when he said “I wouldn’t necessarily say he’s at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don’t know where he is. … I don’t really think about him very much. I’m not that concerned.”
- 34 mentions of “terror” or “terrorism”, without mentioning the fact this so-called “hotbed” of terrorism in Iraq arose after we invaded, it wasn’t there before.
- Zero mentions of our original (now disproved) claims of WMDs threatening the U.S.
- No mention of the numerous polls in which a majority of both “liberated” Iraqis and Americans disapprove of the continued occupation of Iraq.

I know how wrong this sounds, but there has been a pattern of terrorist activity occurring when Bush’s numbers are down, or after he gives a talk on terrorism. I’ve always been suspicous about 911, from the first moment I saw coverage of it my gut feeling was that our governement was not innocent. We’ll not ever know the truth and that might be a good thing.
Oh, so nobody’s gonna touch this, eh?
I think it was the Jews.
Even given the absolutely sickening manner in which the administration has capitalized on the fear resulting from the 9/11 attacks for their own political gain, as well as to further their foreign policy ambitions, I would stop short of accusing them of being directly involved with the attacks.
Unless evidence of that nature was uncovered, I think that such claims generally would turn off that small group of people who might actually listen with an open mind to the many very legitimate concerns with our nation’s policies.
Also, as you alluded to, even if it were true it probably would not be revealed at this stage; once that kind of secret has been kept hidden for this long, it’s probably going to be pretty safe, since anyone that would have leaked it probably would have done so by now. After all, there has certainly been no shortage of insiders in the administration and the intelligence community stepping down and being compelled by conscience to reveal the truth that they have witnessed.
