I can’t believe…

… I’m still getting comments on this post. (Nathan - I would reference it by name, but that would only lead to more traffic on that subject).

also because you hate blind people.

OK, now you got me feeling all guilty. I added a more descriptive title attribute to the link, which I believe screen readers usually read but hopefully search engines neglect.

If I see one more comment on that C0ke Zer0 post, I may have to close it. Just kidding; I don’t really mind, but it is getting a little ridiculous.

would this be a first - to close a post due to too many comments?

  4. Posted July 18, 2005 at 1:53 pm | Permalink

Yes, it would be a first, but I wouldn’t actually do it. There’s only one post on here I’ve ever disabled comments on.

why are you thinking of curtailing comments? are you tired of the subject?

  7. Posted July 19, 2005 at 9:23 am | Permalink

I was just noticing that I still get a lot of search hits and the occasional random comment on this post, and thought it was kind of weird that people would be that into it.

I’ve already said in two out of the six comments on this post that I was just joking about cutting off the comments.

it’s a popular subject everyone can weigh in on.
so people are searching for this subject???
    that is different.

this post is kind of a sub-post to the cz post, which is new to me.
it can take 10 positive comments to overcome a perceived neg. comment - in relation to your saying you would close the post and then the 2 saying you would not.

The only time I even mentioned disabling comments was in this post, and I immediately said I was just joking (in the same comment):

“I may have to close it. Just kidding”

If people are going to be doing Google searches, they should be checking out the Impulsive Buy review. This is a fun site for lots of tongue-in-cheek product reviews.

at the risk of inviting a firestorm of protest,
I am thinking with the femine side of my brain…
There have been studies that neg. statements ( or perceived neg. ) make a stronger impact than postive statements and it takes 10 + to replace 1 -. That is all, no biggie.

OK, but what does that have to do with this post? I don’t think I said anything negative…

the perceived neg was ” I may have to close it”

  16. Posted July 19, 2005 at 11:36 am | Permalink

I see. I’m still not sure how that could be perceived as negative, especially since I said “just kidding” immediately after it.

Also, I must have forgotten to mention my policy of not caring about when people perceive something as negative when it’s not, at least when it’s related to something as meaningless as this issue.
