I just watched the deleted scenes from the Star Wars III DVD last night, and there was a whole bunch of really good scenes that got cut, that expanded a lot on a couple subplots, etc. which in my opinion would have made the movie much better. Now I think I want to go back and rewatch the deleted scenes from episodes one and two, just to see what those ones could have been as well. In the ep 3 commentary, almost all of the ones that were cut were just cut for time, which I think is lame. I wish Lucas would have taken a clue from Peter Jackson (LOTR, King Kong, etc.) and make the movies as long as they need to be to tell the story.

yeah, there are two scenes cut from ep1 and 2 that were very important for the plot. there was a scene from tpm in which anakin gets into a fight with some of the other kids. gives you a glimpse of darkside. in aotc anakin meets padme’s family in a scene. it explains so much and is good to see some screen time with anakin where he’s not acting totally creapy. again, the main reasons for the deletion were because lucas felt they slowed down the movie. not the most surprizing thing, since lucas’s favorite “direction” is “faster, more intense,” which is why everyone acts really poorly in his movies.
