Kong Review

We just got back from watching King Kong tonight, so here’s my review.
All in all, I think that this movie easily takes the top honors for best monster movie. The combination of the special effects and Peter Jackson’s direction have bumped up the bar several notches and it will probably be hard to top.
Since Dan [...]

More Rojo slowness

Following up on this post, I just noticed today that some feeds on Rojo are way behind. Nate & Kristen’s comment feed for example, is currently 6 days behind, so there were a whole bunch of comments out there that I didn’t see until today. I think I’m going to switch back to Sage for [...]

Good news

As a follow-up to my previous post:
Senate fails to reauthorize Patriot Act
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate on Friday refused to reauthorize major portions of the USA Patriot Act after critics complained they infringed too much on Americans’ privacy and liberty…

Doh

Alternate title: They can’t “hate our freedom” if we get rid of it; that’ll show ‘em!
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation on Wednesday to renew the USA Patriot Act, setting up a showdown with the Senate over a centerpiece of President George W. Bush’s war on terrorism.
On a 251-174 vote, the [...]

FINALLY

… kind of. It’s probably as close as we’re going to get.
“And it is true that much of the intelligence turned out to be wrong. As President, I’m responsible for the decision to go into Iraq and I’m also responsible for fixing what went wrong by reforming our intelligence capabilities.” - Pres. Bush - [...]

Who knew Narnia could be so controversial?

Here is an interesting page on what order the books should be read in, which is sure to again become the subject of many heated debates now that the movie is out.
The internecine strife between Lewis aficionados about the order of the Narnia books shows no signs of abating. In principle, both devout Chronologists and [...]

GoToMyPC killer

For anyone who finds themselves in need of the services that a product like GoToMyPC can provide (namely accessing a computer on one network from one on another network, both behind firewalls which restrict direct connection attempts) but don’t want to pay $20 per month (or whatever it is now), I would like to recommend [...]

Freedom of speech propaganda

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. military has secretly paid Iraqi newspapers to run dozens of pro-American articles written by a special military task force, The Los Angeles Times reported on Wednesday.
The newspaper also reported that the “Information Operations Task Force” in Baghdad has bought an Iraqi newspaper and taken control of a radio station, and [...]

Most people can skip this post

… since I don’t know who else is interested to know that I just heard that Damon Lindelof (co-creator and exec. producer of Lost) is a long-time comic book fan and has recently been asked to do a “new” version of the first meeting between Wolverine and the Hulk.
The cover to the right was from [...]

Roslow

Is it just me, or does it seem like Rojo has been getting a little slower on the feed updates? It seems like they’re running into scalability issues as more people add feeds for it to fetch.
