The "you and me" vs. "you and I" is just the subject/object distinction. I think it's one of those things where some people like to correct an improper "me" to the proper "I" so much that it gives the impression that the "me" form is somehow bad.

I do agree though that most of these questions were a bit on the obscure side, or at least had a couple answers which most people would not catch or care much about the difference between the choices presented. I would also agree that if there is a questionable sentence like the ones on that page, the proper approach in most cases would be to alter it in order to avoid the issue and make it more clear.

I don't think one should be a grammar nazi about it, but I do think that a fairly high degree of attention to proper grammar is an essential part of effective communication. This is not just for the purposes of satisfying the ego of the presenter, but because *effective* communication has as much to do with the listener as the presenter, and if the listener is put off by poor grammar or spelling, then the communication is not going to be successful.

In addition to formal communication, I would even extend this to "public writings" such as blogs, etc. because if someone wants to get an idea of whether you can communicate well in a written format, they will probably check your blog.

I know that some people have personal theories which disagree and are of the opinion that things like grammar and spelling don't matter in these settings, and I'm not going to criticize them for it, nor will I constantly go around and correct other people on every little thing - that's just lame.

i took it again and got master. i don't really know what i did differently hahaha. i found the link too! no one mentioned it wasn't on the quiz page and that i was a button, not a link!

elements of style says "chris's" and "chris'" are both acceptable, and "you and me" always sounded like sloppy english, even if proper. most of the other questions feature grammatical situations no one will even encounter in real life. a good editor would reword half the sentences in here...are we writting to communicate or writting to stroke our own egos?

I found it. I was a Master, but I missed 7 according to their answers! Pretty sorry Master. But I challenge some of their answers. Especially the Chris's one. That's just dumb.

i just went through again choosing answers at random, got bastardization, and there was no link to all possible results. i guess they don't think bastards deserve to be educated.

There is a button closer to the bottom of the page that says "see all possible results." That is where you can see the correct answers.
