It’s official

I am snipped as of noon today. The fact that today is Friday the 13th doesn’t bother me too much, since I’m not superstitious in any way, but if something unexpected happens later I may have to reconsider that.

In case you were wondering, yes, it hurt. The first side wasn’t bad, the second side was really bad. Right at this moment, it just kind of feels like I’m recovering from getting kicked a couple minutes ago, but that may just be because all the anesthetic hasn’t worn off yet. Martha is going to go pick up the Vicadin in a few minutes.

I’m just hoping this doesn’t interfere too much with my plans to start an insane exercise regimen next week.

i felt like i had just been kicked a couple minutes ago for about two weeks. it’ll get worse before it gets better.

i don’t know if you were joking or not, but contest aside, i highly recommend you not do any serious activity for a while. i don’t remember what exactly the recommendation was, but my doctor said that guys that push themselves end up with massive swelling. you just had surgery, be serious about it and let your body heal.

seriously, at least ask the advice of your doctor of what he feels is appropriate. don’t end up hurting yourself for a contest!

Great! Now Kristen, can you do something about Nate?

Ha. Yes, I will only do what I feel OK with; hopefully it won’t last two weeks, though.

On the paper they give you, they say that you can start resuming “normal” activity as soon as the 3rd day, depending on how you feel. I’m actually doing OK for now, but that is after doing slightly more than the recommended dosage of Vicadin, so I think I’ll just have to see how it goes.

I’ve heard stories varying from a few days to a few weeks, so I’m hoping mine goes more towards the faster end of the scale.

If not, I’ll probably still start exercising to some degree (although the bike riding will definitely be on hold for a while), because it’s my duty as a man to do things that will cause me physical pain in order to win a competition.

Jacquie: When I first read your comment, I thought you were saying that Kristen should hurry up and get Nate “fixed”, but then I realized that you were just referring to the competition.

i prefer to self-medicate with liquor. my folks are major pill poppers, so i have a hard time even taking tylenol. actually, my wife (who is constantly trying to get me to do drugs) asked about pain killers…the doc said if you need anything more than an otc pain killer something’s wrong.

Yes. There is something wrong. Someone just cut into your twee-twa and sliced some body parts in two. That calls for vicodin.

i shoulda been more clear: when i was getting my twee-twa sliced, lisa asked about pain killers. the doc said tylenol should be all i needed and if i needed more, i needed to be seen.

you don’t want to push it, you know if you get hurt now it will be 6-8 weeks to recover…maybe you should be sitting around watching tv eating comfort food…now doesn’t that sound nice?
