Sure, you could do that, but it's not worth that much trouble. My main point is that I personally don't think it ads anything valuable to the sound.

You could always write a script to convert those files you don't like down to mono since the other 90% of other listeners like it. The same thing for "AJAX" you could just use lynx.

yes, it's like star trek the next generation. in many ways superior, but it will never be loved as much as the original.

Yeah, they don't do it for "no reason", just "no good reason", like I said above.

It's kind of like how people are trying to use AJAX for everything under the sun now, including functions that don't make much sense.

at least they're using it! i thought you were talking about making a mono source stereo and doubling the file size for no reason. panning voices is the best!

Stereo files of just people talking are completely lame. TWIT (and a few others) are exactly what I'm referring to with this. The files are larger for no good reason, although that's not what caused me to notice and post on it.

Sometimes I like to only wear one earbud part of the headphones, but if they try to do something pointless like panning people to one side or another, then the volume levels are off unless you are listening in stereo.

I think if a podcast is done right and compressed well it doesn't matter. TWIT sounds great in stereo.

why do you even bring this up? It seems like ti would only matter if you were the podcaster. Unless you're syncing with your PDA and you have not enough space.
