I just tried out my recent comments plugin in Wordpress 2.0 (on the new biggest loser blog), and it seems to be working just fine.

Martha was going over Emma’s history homework with her tonight and she saw a bunch of random words highlighted in her textbook. She asked Emma why those were highlighted, and Emma said that she highlights the ones that people pronounce wrong when they’re reading aloud in class.

I am snipped as of noon today. The fact that today is Friday the 13th doesn’t bother me too much, since I’m not superstitious in any way, but if something unexpected happens later I may have to reconsider that.
In case you were wondering, yes, it hurt. The first side wasn’t bad, the second side was really bad. Right at this moment, it just kind of feels like I’m recovering from getting kicked a couple minutes ago, but that may just be because all the anesthetic hasn’t worn off yet. Martha is going to go pick up the Vicadin in a few minutes.
I’m just hoping this doesn’t interfere too much with my plans to start an insane exercise regimen next week.

… on a subject I don’t know much of anything about:
I think that all sports teams that are affiliated with a particular geographic region (city, etc.) should be required to only be made up of members of that particular region, who have lived there for like 10-15 years. I just think it would be interesting that way. Right now when you’re rooting for an LA (or wherever) team, all you’re really rooting for is a business that’s based out of LA.

From Creative Labs’ ZENCast site:
Podcasts, short for Personal On Demand broadCast, are audio files you can download into any MP3 player or computer.
While I don’t necessarily like the term “podcast” because it is kind of associated with iPods, I’m not going to try to redefine it when it’s obvious to everyone where the term comes from.
*Note: for those who don’t know, Creative Labs makes competing portable media players to Apple, like the recent ZEN release.

You are a GRAMMAR GOD!
Congratulations! If your mission in life is not already to preserve the English tongue, it should be. You can smell a grammatical inaccuracy from fifty yards. Your speech is revered by the underlings, though some may blaspheme and call you a snob. They’re just jealous. Go out there and change the world.
I’m not sure how I achieved that status, since I did get two of the questions wrong, but I’m not going to dispute it.
Take it for yourself and post your results here (or trackback).

Annoying someone via the Internet is now a federal crime.
Last Thursday, President Bush signed into law a prohibition on posting annoying Web messages or sending annoying e-mail messages without disclosing your true identity.
What’s almost as messed up as the concept itself is the way it was shoehorned into some other legislation. The way laws are passed these days is ridiculous, and needs to be reformed. The bill itself (HR3402 - Violence Against Women and Department of Justice Reauthorization Act) is primarily a budgetary authorization for the DOJ, with some minor (loosely related) parts dealing with violence against women that was included in the title (probably in an effort to make it more presentable). Then you’ve got the internet thing buried in there somewhere. These things need to be separated into their own bills instead of the congress voting on package deals which are encumbered with too many unrelated issues. This one is a perfect example, since if anyone voted against it they would be accused of somehow being opposed to fighting “violence against women” or something like that.

I saw something really weird last night. It was around midnight and I just happened to be outside looking over the hills by our house (in the direction of the Skyline neighborhood / Arroyo Verde park, and for about a second there was a super strong dark green colored light that looked like it came from the ground level and lit up the whole bottom portion of the sky, kind of like a distant flash of lightning reflecting through the fog, except there was no fog, it was green, and it lasted longer (about a second).
