Nathan’s post regarding soda from earlier today got me thinking about how soda also contributed to my own process of weight gain. For those of you who may not keep up with his blog [which you should - I know it's hard without a comments feed, but... :) ] I thought I’d post it here:

Yeah, I think soda was my downfall as well. It all started when I started working at the Kinko’s corporate office, where they had free soda fountain machines. I ended up bringing my 52-ouncer circle K cup in, and filling it up probably twice during the night. (I was on the 3-midnight shift for the help desk, initially).

At first it wasn’t so bad, since I was riding my bike to and from work every day/night from our various apartments, all on the east side of Ventura, to the office off of Stanley & the Avenue. Unfortunately, once we could afford two cars, I stopped riding my bike but continued with the soda habit.

I finally cut out that kind of thing (a while ago actually), but the damage had already been done. Now I’m working on undoing it during this competition, and then maintaining after that.
