Best George Lucas quote ever

George today, in a rare moment of political commentary:

“Because the emperor works behind Darth Vader; he doesn’t actually stand in front of him. I say that in fear of getting hit with a lot of buckshot.”

I always wondered if some of the political maneuvering in the eps #1-3 (one and two, especially) was inspired by current events, or if it was just my imagination making the association, but I guess there was a hint of inspiration there after all.

    Here is another zinger.

“My idea for an ad campaign next year is, ‘Corruption, Cronyism, Incompetence,’ ” Lucas told the applauding Democrats. “‘It’s Your Country. Vote.’”

Sorry. I don’t mean to come off like I think I’m the authority in political scandals/corruption, because I am not. I just think you are more AWARE now of what you define as corruption, but that doesn’t mean that it hasn’t been there all along in VERY LARGE MEASURES!

    I didn’t say it hadn’t.

I’m not sure what makes you think that. You’re saying that there’s less corruption now than in the past? I disagree.

OK. No there is probably NOT less corruption now than in the past. As long as Teddy Kennedy is still around! But there is probably not MORE than in the past either.

I always felt that the propoganda of these 3 films was blatant. No wondering on my part.
