In a rare non-technical, non-political post, I thought I’d let you know that my iron was not working today. Actually, it hasn’t been working for a couple days now, but I’ve just been getting by with wearing shirts and pants that don’t necessarily need to be ironed before you wear them, but the situation was exacerbated today, because I was down to having only clean clothes remaining that require ironing. So, I’m wearing a wrinkly shirt today.
PS - Don’t even think about saying that this post is still technical because of the iron malfunction; it’s probably as close as it’s going to get.

I’ll make it geeky if you don’t mind. We use the steamer thing that you put water in and you’ve might have seen on infomercials. It works pretty good and it’s really fast. The only issue I have with it is it’s big and if you don’t have closet space it’s an eyesore. We got ours on eBay for cheap.
A non-technical way to get your shirt presentable is use water. Put the shirt on then splash water on it, smooth it out and it will dry by the time you get where you need to go. It’s pretty much the same thing as the spray crap you buy.
i just nailed my iron with a brillo pad yesterday because it’s somehow getting rusty. now it’s nice and smooth…which is a little bit of a bummer because i was hoping to get a new iron and use the old one as a brandy iron.
stop at kmart on your way home…irons are like $15.
Wow! I didn’t know you ironed. I’m impressed. Who knew my big brother was so domestic?
$15…no way. How long will that last?
eternally? that’s how much irons cost. at least i think it is. hold on…
yeah, here’s one for $11.68

even better: $8.09 on sale (regular: $8.99)

they have four models under $15 and six more under $20.
Yes, I usually do my own laundry, and it usually involved wearing all my clothes until I run out of good ones and then doing loads that are too big for the washer and dryer.
I’d be fine with getting an iron for that price. It makes sense that they would be cheap; it’s not exactly a complicated device.
you still haven’t got one?! so you went to work friday all wrinkley again?
No, I found another shirt that I forgot about before, then ended up doing laundry last night.
unbawevabow
I bought an iron my freshmen year at Purdue (1996) and it just quit on me a couple of months ago. 10 years isn’t too bad for the $10 I paid for it at Walmart way back then! Of course, who knows how long a $10 iron would last for your family of 5, but I don’t think I ever see your boys in clothes that require ironing.
Jared- just get wrinkle free shirts. Manufacturers usually use that as a selling point in the men’s department- I’ve noticed this since I got married and looked for things for Randy.
most wrinkle free still needs ironing. at least i feel like it does. maybe i’m not buying the right brand.
they still need ironing because they usually sit in the dryer or on the floor for a few days before you wear them or they get hung. also our loads are stuffed so full they hardly have room to move.
Ha ha! When I first read that comment, I thought it was Martha, until I saw the name. Sounds familiar…
He has tons of shirts, he just wears the same ones over and over. I got an iron tonight. Don’t know how much it was. They don’t last long when they fall on the floor.
haha, i was close to getting one for you for mother’s day, but
1. i wasn’t sure if you (martha) actually iron
2. ya’ll mighta already got one
3. it would be in responce to jared’s needs, so less compelling as a mom’s day gift.
