I’m really wondering how Akismet could possibly not catch this as spam:

Luckily I only use it as part of a larger spam prevention system, so it didn’t slip by.

What?
He’s talking about the post being a spam post (on blogger) and it tracking back to a real post (yours).
Oh.
I’m pretty sure most blog spam is via trackback these days (rather than “commenting”), at least on WordPress, so that part isn’t very surprising.
It makes sense since there are fewer restrictions you can put on trackbacks (which are designed to be submitted by automated systems, very similar to spam) as opposed to comments, which are designed to be submitted by real people.
The thing that doesn’t make sense is how in the heck Akismet can flag this as OK. I thought their big advantage was their huge database that they can leverage to evaluate these submissions, but I think I can safely say that if this totally obvious spam can slip by, their filters suck.
actually, my comment was about the fact that your’ve been posting about spam a lot.
That’s actually what I thought at first, but then I checked and noticed that I only have 3 posts about spam for this month (out of 12), and only 4 total in the last 7 months, so I figured you couldn’t possibly mean that.
well, when you post 20 things per month, three things in one month on the same subject makes a trend!
Perhaps. I won’t worry about it too much though. Maybe it just seems that way because I haven’t been doing as many “political” posts lately.
