Google Reader - Question/Complaint

Can you categorize / tag a feed (not just a single post) without going to the “Manage Subscriptions” page? If not, then that sucks.

Don’t get me wrong, I still like it, but it is just a bit of a pain to classify new feeds right now. Perhaps I need to look into making a mod to do it, if it isn’t already available.

You can’t, it really bugs me too but once you have your feed tagged it shouldn’t be an issue later.

An easy way to tag/cat all of your feeds is put them in another program, export the opml and import it into GR.

One thing that confused me in the beginning is the tagging of feeds and the feed folders. It’s actually how’d I prefer it but it’s confusing. Even you described it with with “tag”. But you can edit feed item tags on the main screen.

I like the feed folder thing too; the UI works exactly the way I want it for day to day use.

The only problem is when adding new feeds, and wanting to categorize them (ie: associate them with folders) right then and there. It should be a lot easier, as easy as it is to “tag” individual stories / posts, which I never do. Exporting to another program isn’t worth it, because I’m usually only adding one feed every now and then, and the whole point is that it shouldn’t take that many clicks to categorize that feed.

I thought you hadn’t categorized them all yet. Yeah, it sucks having to put them in folders on the other screen that’s why I wait till I have a few before I manage them. Still not as hard as you make it out to be.

No, I’m just talking about adding new feeds periodically. It isn’t “hard” per say, but it should be a LOT easier, because it easily could be.
