Obvious insight

During the super bowl is pretty much the best time to get anything done throughout the whole year.

I went to Costco this afternoon during the game and it was like the whole city was a ghost town. The roads were clear, the stores weren’t crowded; it was kind of weird.

It did, actually - that during the super bowl is a great time to get stuff done; hence, my post.

Actually, (speaking of “commies”) I was going to go off on a longer rant about how interesting/weird it is that there are now a whole bunch of people who say they only watch the game for the commercials, which is pretty much a dream situation for advertisers. But I didn’t want to start one of those “down with consumerism” conversations.

Then I was also going to post my speculation about how I’m sure all those ads will be appearing on YouTube, probably the same day they were aired, and so the whole “watch for the ads” thing doesn’t make too much sense anymore, unless there’s some crazy HD special effects in them or something.

actually, the commercials were on youtube in a paid placement before the superbowl aired. i was watching them and drinking a diet coke and thinking about the future of entertainment and the power of product placement.

anywho, i didn’t pay attention to football at all this season and actually planned to not watch it but ended up watching anyways because i’m an american. if people realize that shopping is convenient during that time, the terrorists have already won.

Actually CBS posted all of the super bowl ads on their own website. I think a lot of people watch it because they want to have a reason to have a barbeque and hang out. Many of those people just want a reason to get together and get drunk. I watched it because I had nothing to do. I stopped watching it somewhere in the third quarter because I was really bored. I am willing to bet that few people watched it because of Prince.

I think the people that say they watch it just for the commercials are the people that aren’t willing to admit that they are just too lazy to get off their butts and do something else, but don’t want to be placed into the group of people that actually enjoy watching football. Watching funny commercials is just their way of being lazy without worrying about anyone actually thinking they are lazy.
