Do I look like someone?

A couple weeks back, when I was out of town I was driving around the area and saw several pedestrians on the street point to me and say something to the people they were with. Some even tried to wave and I politely waved back. I didn’t think much of it at the time, other than I possibly looked like someone in that particular town and they had mistaken me for him.

Then just last week I was here in Ventura (Oxnard, actually) and some lady in a green SUV who I’m quite sure I’ve never seen before in my life pulled up next to me while driving and started honking and waving at me, like she was excited to see me. At first I just looked over at her, hoping she would realize she had the wrong person once she saw me, but she just kept honking and smiling and waving. I eventually just waved back, and slowed down a bit so she would pass me, and then I saw her up ahead calling someone on her cell phone.

Maybe I’m just paranoid, but I can’t help but think that these incidents are related. Problem is I have no idea who they must have thought I was. Any ideas?

I’m thinking they are mistaking you for Barack Obama.

Do you have bumper stickers? Do you drive around with your trunk open? We’re you wearing your ball cap and hadn’t shaved for about 3 weeks? Maybe they thought you were Michael Moore. Did you have your head shaved? Maybe they thought you were Howie Mandell. Did you have your shirt off and had you grown alot of hair on your back? Maybe they thought you were Cheetah. Just a few ideas.

No bumper stickers, no open trunk, no hat. I’m pretty sure it’s a no on the others too.

Maybe this is an updated version of the guys in a white van who have some “extra” speakers from a delivery and have a great deal for you. They’ve wised up and added a lady as the front person. Was the van white? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_van_speakers
