I’m asking this here because I’m too lazy to look it up on my own:
Does anyone know if there’s a way to get external RSS feed access to your personal “news feed” and/or “mini-feed”?
I think I’d be much more likely to keep up with Facebook happenings if I didn’t have to go to the site to check up on things.
I know other web apps (like Basecamp) allow you to get feeds of private info (using some generated unique key, etc.), so I’m hoping it’s available in Facebook too, and I just haven’t seen it yet.

I know you can get status updates from your friends but that’s about it that I know of.
Ha, you can write your own in C.
That code you linked to is actually C# (which I’d prefer anyway), but all it’s doing is screen-scraping the actual Facebook HTML page, which I’d really rather avoid.
It would be ideal if they provided the feed themselves, or at least made this possible via an API. That’s what I’m hoping to find.
Probably the most vocal person about facebook not being open is Dave Winer who seems to besoftening up to the release of facebook’s new feeds.
Interesting… the feeds Winer points to (Friend Status updates and Friends Posted Items) I have seen before, but I’m not sure how long they’ve been around. I remember being aware of them when I first posted this, though.
Unfortunately, they still don’t have what I was looking for, which is a feed for the main “News Feed”. This is displayed on the home page and contains news that isn’t covered in the two feeds mentioned above. Seems like a no-brainer to me, so I’m not sure why they don’t offer it, unless it’s because they don’t want to.
Because we all want to know when someone adds an application or gets a new friend instantly through RSS.
I’d say it has about the same level of interest as the other two feeds. We don’t really need updates to everyone’s “status” either.
The question I have is why do they offer some but not all, especially the one they call “News Feed”. Hopefully they’ll get more open soon.
