Spinning girl

I’m sure many of you have seen this already, but I just saw it. It’s from an article from the Herald Sun about right-brained vs. left-brained perception, but the article doesn’t seem to go into too much detail about how or why they draw those particular conclusions.
Spinning Girl
For some reason, no matter how hard I tried at first, I could only see her spinning counter-clockwise.

Eventually I found a trick for forcing myself to see it the other way. Try covering up the whole thing with your hand and then slowly moving your hand in the direction you want to see the “spin” happening, and lowering it at the same time, watching for the head spinning in the direction you expect it to.

I guess that’s a part of the covering the whole picture up and only focusing on the head trick.

I at first saw it counter, then after 2 seconds it switched when I briefly looked away. Now it about 60% cw and 40% ccw.

I don’t know if it’s a trick but if you just look away and read the article or stare a few inches to the side the image will change in your peripheral vision.

I’m with dan. Before I read the post it was going back and forth, then I started reading and it only was going CW, then I scrolled down and it switched, then back and forth depending on my eye position

I have tried and tried but she only rotates clockwise for me, I can’t possibly see her turning the other way.

Hey everyone. There is nothing to this spinning girl. The original picture alternates spinning left then to the right, it just does it very subtely and with variations. eg, it will spin to the left once then continue spinning to the right. IT has nothing to do with using the left side of the brain and the right,
Just keep looking at it and it will change, or another thing which affects it is click it twice with the mouse, and on the second time keep the mouse down and drag at the image this should change it.

Don’t trust your eyes, trust science. She doesn’t change directions, and she is absolutely going counter-clockwise. I can tell this not by looking at her, but by looking at the shadows. You can only see the shadow of her up (working) leg when it is behind her (relative to the viewer). The light must be behind her, and when her leg is closer to the viewer, her shadow is off the page. Test it with a light bulb and two sticks if you don’t believe me.

Sorry, Davis and Stevo, you’re both wrong. There’s only one sequence of images, and it can be seen either way.
