Following on the conversation about Spider-man 3 over on Dan’s blog, I think I’ve stumbled onto a suggestion that I think would work for pretty much every super-hero comic book based movie that I can think of.
The basic idea is that the movie (or at least sequels) should always open with a fight scene during [...]
An Inconvenient Truth - tonight @9:35, downtown - free thanks to this site.
Thanks to Nathan for the link. Dan is in too, I believe.
Anyone else?
Nathan would be my first Netflix friend, but unfortunately it won’t let me accept the invitation since I used a different e-mail address for my account. So, for future reference, my netflix address is netflix@pacific22.com, if you’d like to add me as a friend.
I did manage to add one movie to my exclusively Twilight Zone [...]
I just got done watching this classic movie for the first time, and boy did it suck. I love De Niro, but how anyone ever watched this particular movie enough to make those quotes memorable is beyond me.
What I’m wondering now (having not seen too many movies from that era) is whether the standards were [...]
X3, tomorrow night.
PS - I’m already starting this one off with a gripe. From the trailers I’ve seen, the Juggernaut looks more like a regular size guy, whereas in the comics, he’s supposed to be abnormally large. Granted, various artists have drawn him differently over the years, but he’s usually quite a bit bigger than [...]
We saw Thank You for Smoking last night, and I liked it a lot. I think it was partially because it was just a good, funny movie, and partially because I’m also a guy who enjoys to argue a bit too much, even about things that I could easily be wrong about.

I finally saw the teaser trailer for this today, although I think it’s been out for a while. As a big comic book (and specifically Superman) fan, I’m really looking forward to this one.
Thumbs up from me for getting an unknown actor for the role instead of someone like Nicholas Cage, who was being considered [...]

We just got back from watching King Kong tonight, so here’s my review.
All in all, I think that this movie easily takes the top honors for best monster movie. The combination of the special effects and Peter Jackson’s direction have bumped up the bar several notches and it will probably be hard to top.
Since Dan [...]

Here is an interesting page on what order the books should be read in, which is sure to again become the subject of many heated debates now that the movie is out.
The internecine strife between Lewis aficionados about the order of the Narnia books shows no signs of abating. In principle, both devout Chronologists and [...]
