Blogger has comment feeds!

I’m not sure when this happened, but Blogger has RSS feeds for comments now. You can get to them using the following format:
http://BLOGNAME.blogspot.com/feeds/comments/default
Thanks to Nathan for sending me that link; I guess I get to blog about it since he doesn’t blog anymore.
Not to rain on Google’s parade, but I do wonder why [...]

Google Reader Shared Items

Google Reader has a feature where you can mark items from your RSS feed as “shared”, which makes them available on a page that anyone else can see, if they’re interested in what you find interesting. The page then also has an RSS feed of its own, so that you can subscribe to your friends [...]

Facebook update

OK, I finally broke down and added one external app to my FaceBook profile: the Shared Google Reader viewer.
Until now, I’ve been hesitant to add any of them, because most (that I’ve seen) don’t do much of anything useful and just end up taking up time, and from what I understand (could be wrong) about [...]

Facebook feeds

I’m asking this here because I’m too lazy to look it up on my own:
Does anyone know if there’s a way to get external RSS feed access to your personal “news feed” and/or “mini-feed”?
I think I’d be much more likely to keep up with Facebook happenings if I didn’t have to go to the site [...]

Thou shalt use RSS

I know I’ve mentioned this a number of times on here before, but if you read any number of blogs on a regular basis and are not using an RSS reader to keep track of them, you are wasting quite a bit of time.
I brought it up on this conversation from Dan’s blog, and Dan [...]

Feed hickup

If you read this site via an RSS aggregator, you may have noticed some items you had already marked as “read” showing back up again.
This should be a one time occurrence, since I just switched around my feed system to use a couple new plugins. One is the one I just wrote yesterday for integration [...]

Selective media

As an off-shoot of a side conversation Dan and I have been having here on this post, I got to thinking about the main drawback (in my eyes) of the new “subscription” culture (for lack of a better term) that RSS and the internet in general affords us. Obviously, being able to consolidate the stuff [...]

Google Reader - getting better all the time

You can now sort oldest first in Google Reader.
This makes things much easier if you prefer to read feeds in chronological order like me, as now you can just hit “N” to page through all your posts, as opposed to scrolling down and then hitting “P” to go backwards up to the top.

Google Reader - Question/Complaint

Can you categorize / tag a feed (not just a single post) without going to the “Manage Subscriptions” page? If not, then that sucks.
Don’t get me wrong, I still like it, but it is just a bit of a pain to classify new feeds right now. Perhaps I need to look into making a mod [...]

Google Reader ups their web 2.0 cred

An entry this week on the Google Reader blog describes their latest improvements to the software, and includes this helpful meter for judging their hipness factor:
