Need one to get rid of those lame » (>>) characters that WordPress puts in Trackbacks, since they make the XML in the comment feeds not parse correctly

I got this same comment recently on two of my posts in which I suggested some new functionality for DVRs; just thought it was interesting. There is an actual ebay auction on it, but it sure looks like a lame scam to me.

are now working again to my blog. Previously they were being prevented by one or more of my comment spam prevention plugins, including my own. I will have to fix these when I get a chance, but until then I will leave them off so I don’t miss out on all the trackbacks and pingbacks [...]
And as much as I don’t like spam, I think it’s ridiculous. According to the story, he was making $750K per month in his heyday.

I’m also moderating all Trackbacks/Pingbacks due to spam, so don’t panic if you trackback me and it doesn’t show up right away.

I’m in the middle of upgrading to WordPress version 1.5. One thing I’ve noticed immediately is how well my comment spam plugins were working, because for the few minutes I had them disabled, I get flooded with spam.

My cable internet service is down all day due to a landslide in LA taking out some Quest fiber lines.
I’ve started getting trackback spam on here now, so I need to make (or get) a plugin to prevent that, but it’s a pain to do without a good connection to work with.

Word on the street is that the next great way to get rich quick is cashing in on well timed currency trading, Euro fluctuations, etc. Given the significant amount of spam I’ve received on this subject, I’m inclined to be skeptical of this whole thing.
