Facebook’s “Wall”

Can anyone explain to me why Facebook seems to prefer the MySpace-esque message posting system, which (on your page) only displays the messages someone posts to you, but only displays responses on the other person’s page (without including the original)?
At least with Facebook you can click the link to see the conversation in order, but [...]

TLA disconnect

For some reason, TLA keeps selling ads for me, even though I canceled my account a week ago.

Walled Gardens

I came across this article by Jeff Atwood today that really eloquently captured / mirrored my current feelings about the social networking craze that’s sweeping the tubes these days.
I occasionally get requests to join private social networking sites, like LinkedIn or Facebook. I always politely decline. I understand the appeal of private social networking, and [...]

Minimo review / mobile browsers

Well, after spending a day yesterday operating pretty much exclusively off of my phone/PDA, I’m ready to give my impressions of the Minimo browser from Mozilla, as well as the other options available (or at least that I have installed) on my device.

Safari on Windows

I think it’s a good idea, and I applaud Apple for doing it.

I do wonder how they’ll get convince people (the “average user”) to download [...]

Amen, brother! If you really, really “need” to show some visually styled presentation, send a link to a web page, because that’s where HTML & CSS belong.

Surface computing

I’ve seen lots of surface computing videos on the web for the last few years, but this one is the first one I’ve seen with some complete (and interesting) real life applications / illustrations in the demo. The phone and restaurant table examples were especially interesting, and it seems like they’ve already got businesses lined [...]

Awesome Router

It was only a matter of time before someone built the Slurpr:
Well, the idea is to bundle all the traffic from these six wireless network interfaces (and maybe a wired interface too) into one big connection which, if you keep the wireless interfaces down to five, otherwise you need to hook up to it by [...]

Google Gears

I read about Google Gears earlier today on the blog of the developer who has been working on it, but I couldn’t think of anything I’d want to use it for, so I didn’t bother checking into it too much further.
Now that Google Reader supports it, though, I have installed it and it is excellent. [...]
